iTunes UK enters the movie biz

Apple has started selling and renting movies through the UK iTunes store, under the somewhat quaint "Films" title.

Movie purchases cost £6.99, with new release titles at £10.99, while rentals cost respectively £2.49 and £3.49. Another £1 buys HD content for Apple TV.

Rental viewing must be completed within 48 hours of the first time they are played, while purchases remain accessible under some DRM restrictions - primarily no burning to DVD.

More than 700 titles are available to buy at launch from studios including 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros and MGM; not all movies can be rented.
