RoomGroove unwires the iPod

Klipsch has introduced a new iPod speaker system that can wirelessly transmit music to multiple units around a house.
RoomGroove is a two-way, stereo sound system with a touch-sensitive, motorised retractable dock that charges all iPods with 30-pin connectors and includes Apple universal well-inserts to accommodate multiple iPod sizes. Other digital players, in fact any device with line level output can also be connected.
Once additional units are added, the speaker system is transformed into a transmitter or receiver that can wirelessly send music to or receive music from other RoomGrooves. When three or more systems are set-up, and two are playing different tunes, the other units can choose which to listen to. Alternatively, each can play whatever it likes from a connected iPod.
The Wi-Fi set up includes technology to automatically detect and avoid conflict with other wireless networks in the area.
"With intelligent wireless technology and dynamic sound performance, our RoomGroove fills the market gap for a high-quality multi-room music platform that's designed to be simple to install and operate," said Tony Ostrom, Klipsch director of product planning. "It's a product that allows users to easily experience their iPod tunes from room-to-room without being tripped up or tied down."
RoomGroove has a suggested price of £199 and is available now.
