Mobile operator O2 offers broadband at three different speeds: 8Mbit/s, 16Mbit/s and 20Mbit/s. However we had only enough respondents in our survey to judge the first two.
O2 broadband uses the same network as Be, so if you can get one, you can get the other. However, this means that most of its packages are available only in certain areas; see the O2 website to see which you can receive.
O2 offers some great-value packages. Its 16Mbit/s Premium package had an impressive average speed of 9.92Mbit/s. The standard package was the second-fastest 8Mbit/s service here, with an average speed of 5.68Mbit/s. Both are excellent value, and are even cheaper if you use an O2 mobile phone. O2's Access package isn't provided using O2's network and isn't such good value.
A fair-use policy governs download limits on all the packages, although no hard and fast rules can be gleaned from its small print. You get a free wireless router and 100 web-to-mobile text messages a month, too. Customer service scores were excellent as well. If you can receive the Standard and Premium packages, you should certainly take advantage of them.
