iPod In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic go on sale

Apple has begun selling its new in-ear headphones, with a built-in remote control and microphone for recording voice memos.
Designed to provide richer and more detailed audio than the standard Apple headphones, each earpiece contains two separate high-performance drivers—a woofer and a tweeter—and comes with three sizes of soft, silicone ear tips to create a seal that blocks outside noise. Studies suggest that such in-ear headphones thereby reduce the volume at which music needs to be played, reducing hearing damage.
The earpieces also have stainless steel mesh caps to protect the components from dust and debris. The caps can be removed for cleaning and a second set is provided.
The remote control on the cable of the right earpiece includes a microphone and three buttons to adjust volume, control music and video playback with play/pause and next/previous options. The remote and its mic for recording voice memos are compatible with they iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB) and iPod touch (2nd generation) which were introduced in October, though for listening alone the headphones can be used with any iPod.
Apple has previously released an iPod software update that adds support for the new headphones.
Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic cost £53.83 from the Apple Store and will ship in 7-10 business days.
