Speaker manufacturers won't honour warranties on gifts

Premium speaker manufacturer Bowers and Wilkins (also known as B&W) will not honour warranties on speakers given as gifts.
Bowers and Wilkins sales representative Frazer Hogg confirmed in an email to Expert Reviews that only the original purchaser of the company's speaker systems can obtain repair service under warranty.
If you're thinking of giving a B&W product as a gift this Christmas, such as the company's recently launched Zeppelin Mini iPod speaker dock, then the recipient would find it impossible to obtain warranty repairs if needed in future.
Such policies are fairly common among premium-priced speaker manufacturers. Kef and Klipsch have similar policies, but others, such as Teufel, will honour their warranties if a product is given to someone else. Bowers and Wilkins has yet to confirm the rationale behind its non-transferable warranty policy.
