Speaker company clarifies position on warranties for gifts

Speaker manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins has clarified its position regarding warranties on speakers given as gifts, in response to our article from yesterday.
Frazer Hogg, a sales representative of high-end speaker company Bowers & Wilkins (B&W), originally stated to Expert Reviews that the warranties for B&W products are not transferable from one owner to the next. Such a policy would make it effectively impossible for someone who received a B&W product as a gift to obtain repairs under warranty.
According to B&W spokesman Shaun Marin, the company's warranty policy isn't as strict as this. As long as the current owner of a B&W product can show a receipt for that product, they will be able to obtain repair service under warranty.
If you're thinking of giving a B&W product as a gift this Christmas, then remember to give him or her a copy of the receipt as well.
In the event someone has been given a brand new B&W product that has only been recently announced and needs warranty service but doesn't have a receipt, Marin stated that B&W would likely make an exception on its insistence for a receipt.
