Cowon i9 16GB review

Verdict:

Cowon's gimmicky i9 isn't a bad portable audio player; it's just there are far better designed models available at similar prices.

It's a far superior portable audio player.

I fail to see where the 'far superior' aspect comes in for the Philips. The functionality is far more limited for starters.
This 'review' comments on some positives and negatives - it's far from a real review: what added functions do these players have - are they audiobook compatible? Can they use bookmarks? Playlists? Not really much here for to help a prospective buyer to make an informed choice.
I recently, sadly, replaced an iaudio G3 with a Philips GoGear (2010 version). Beautiful casing, lovely size - but I want to hurl it off the top floor because it's for Muppets - funtionality is great for a 3-year-old, not for anyone trying to negotiate podcasts, lecture MP3s and the like! From what I have read the same is true for most Philips players.
Secondly, the Philips may very well be a better video player, given its larger screen, but audio player - ? No way.
