Archos launches new range of portable audio and video players

Archos has revamped its range of portable and video players with six new models, all at aggressively low prices.
Archos' new range of Vision portable audio and video players consists of six models. The touchscreen 3 Vision has also been revamped as the Vision A30VC and, like Apple's latest iPod nano, has a built-in video camera.
It also has a new interface, an integrated FM transmitter for broadcasting your music to your car radio, 8GB of storage and will cost just £90. Another intriguing model is the Vision A43VB which has a 4.3in touchscreen, 8GB of storage as well as microSD card slot for adding even more storage. It will cost just £100.
Archos' midrange players all look very similar, but the more expensive models have more storage and larger screens. The 4GB A1SVS costs £35 and has a 1.5in screen, the 8GB A18VB costs £40 and has a 1.8in screen, while the 8GB A24VB costs £60 and has a 2.4in screen. Oddly, only the cheapest A1SVS has touch-sensitive buttons while the other two have actual push button controls but this isn't necessarily a bad thing as we've been unimpressed by touch-sensitive buttons on portable audio players.
Finally, if you're on a budget, the matchbox-sized A14VG costs just £30. It weighs only 24g, has 4GB of storage, a built-in FM radio and microphone and a 1.4in colour screen. We hope this new line up will improve upon the the poor design and lacklustre sound quality of Archos' last range of players. We'll bring you full reviews of the most interesting models as soon as we can.
