Creative launches new ZEN range

Creative has updated its range of portable media players with the launch of the ZEN X-Fi Style and the ZEN Style, part of the company's Pure Audio campaign.
The ZEN X-Fi Style features the company's X-Fi Crystalizer technology which is claimed to replace fidelity lost when music is compressed via MP3 - allegedly delivering a cleaner, crisper sound. X-Fi Expand - a virtual surround-sound system designed to deliver a wider-seeming sound stage from stereo headphones - is also included.
Aside from the X-Fi goodies, the ZEN X-Fi Style includes a 2.4in colour TFT display, a video out port for hooking up to a TV, support for the FLAC lossless audio format, an in-built FM radio, podcast support, and calendar and alarm clock utilities. The in-built rechargeable battery can last for 25 hours of music playback, although watching video on the device drops this to a mere 5 hours.
If the ZEN X-Fi Style is a little out of your price range - or if you're just unconvinced by the benefits of the X-Fi technology - Creative has also announced the ZEN Style series, comprised of the Style 100 base model and the Style 300 which adds an FM radio and in-built speaker. Both versions manage a full 32 hours of music playback from a single charge largely thanks to a smaller 1.8in display.
Both models are available from Creative immediately, priced between £39.99 for the ZEN Style 300 4GB to £139.99 for the ZEN X-Fi Style 32GB.
