Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 Ultimate review

Verdict:

Review Date: 30 Jan 2009

Price when reviewed: inc VAT

Reviewed By: Ben Pitt

Our Rating 4 stars out of 5

With Premiere Elements 7 and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum both available for around £50, VideoStudio is no longer a budget alternative, yet its core editing tools remain inferior. Still, casual users may find its other features adequate compensation. SmartProxy makes it arguably the best choice for people who want a simple editor for their HD camera, and AVCHD disc authoring and playback gives a way to archive and share the results without the expense of a Blu-ray drive and media. If Blu-ray playback or video encoding is also of interest, the Ultimate bundle is good value.
