Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 review
Verdict:
As with previous updates, the new features are patchy, but this takes nothing away from the superb existing tools.

Photoshop Elements 8's new features are far from essential, and many are poorly executed. Nothing here would convince us to pay £52 to upgrade. On the other hand, Photoshop Elements 5 was a great image editor, and subsequent versions are no worse for having various ancillary, if mostly mediocre, extras. If Adobe decided to include layer masks for advanced non-destructive editing - a feature included in Corel Paint Shop Pro - advanced users would have an incentive to upgrade. As it is, Photoshop Elements is still a great product, and Adobe has at least saved existing users from the need to splash out on an upgrade.
