LG launches X140 World Cup Edition
Posted on 9 Jun 2010 at 12:12
With the season upon us, manufacturers are falling over themselves to give their products a world cup theme to them - and LG Electronics is no exception, announcing the launch of a World Cup Edition of its X140 netbook.
While the specifications of the netbook remain perfectly sedate - comprising a 1366x768 10.1in display, a 1.83GHz or 1.66GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, and either 250GB or 320GB hard disk depending on country of purchase, all topped off with a copy of Windows 7 Starter Edition - it's the appearance of the lid that'll draw the crowds.
Designed with world cup fanatics in mind, the LG X140 features a cartoon on the rear of the lid featuring a dramatic football scene. All football-loving tastes are catered to, with three body colours available - white, hot pink, and black - all of which features the decal.
Sadly, that's pretty much where the football branding ends: LG hasn't announced any included games or content to bring you closer to the world cup, although it does claim that the six or nine cell batteries can offer nine and twelve hours respectively - meaning that the X140 should last for quite a few matches before needing recharging.
LG Electronics has stated that the device will show up in retailers' listings soon, although it's not yet known how much the X140 will retail for - and how much extra you'll have to pay to demonstrate your love of football this world cup season.
