3 launches MiFi WiFi for your car
Posted on 8 Apr 2010 at 12:21
If you're annoyed that you can't get all of your WiFi-enabled devices online while you're in your car, mobile operator 3 may have the answer with its In Car Wi-Fi kit.
Essentially, the kit is similar to the company's own MiFi device: a portable 3G router with wireless networking built-in. The main difference is that the in-car kit will be powered from the car's 12V supply.
3 is hoping that the kit will let passengers access internet services from their WiFi-enabled devices, including laptops, phones and iPods. It will give simple access to traffic updates and email, as well as providing families on camping trips a link back to the 'real' world.
The kit will cost £60 and will include a Huawei MiFi modem, mains and car chargers, and comes with 1GB of data that will last for 30 days.
