Nobody likes crawling around under a desk to plug things in, but as most standard USB cables measure 2m, it's sometimes inevitable.

A USB extension cable makes things a lot easier - and with some bulky gadgets, it's essential. This extender pushes that range to 5m, but has two downsides. You can't use devices which draw lots of power, like external hard disks, and because the signal degrades over distance, it can't work at USB 2 speeds.
