Sharp launches Blu-ray TVs

Sharp has announced its AQUOS BD televisions, the world's first to have integrated Blu-ray drives. While most TVs with integrated drives are small sets designed for use in kitchens or bedrooms, the AQUOS BD televisions are designed for use in the living room, with set sizes between 32in and 52in.
Each TV in the range has a full 1080p HD resolution and has Sharp's 120Hz picture processing. Advanced features include 'dejudder' technology to remove background noise in the image and create a smoother image.
Strangely, while its competitors were announcing 240Hz TVs, Sharp's product range for 2009 is more conservative and consists entirely of 120Hz sets. The company partly put this down to the current economic climate and said that it realised that this coming year people are going to want products at affordable prices.
"We're deeply aware of the times we're living in," said Bob Scaglione, senior vice president at Sharp.
