Our Rating
Genius's flat satellite design scheme ticks all the right boxes for style, but still manages to look tacky.
The controls, headphone socket and auxiliary input are mounted on the subwoofer, which will be inconvenient if you keep it under your desk. The satellite speakers have short cables, though, so you'll probably need to keep the subwoofer on top of your work space.
Our sine tone tests revealed distortions when reproducing very deep bass, but the set managed to pull itself together by about 60Hz. This means bass-heavy dance music and DVD sound effects sound poor, but music without deep bass escapes relatively unscathed. The satellite speakers produced an airy tone with crisp high frequencies, but lower mid-range frequencies were a little thin. In some tests, the sound quality wasn't far behind the X-230 set, but in others it was notably inferior.
The price is low, but it's worth spending an extra couple of pounds for Logitech's speakers.
