Pure's Chronos iDock is a combined iPod dock and DAB/FM digital radio alarm clock. Its wedge shape means it will fit almost anywhere in your home. It's well built, if rather light, and measures 130mm high and 200mm deep on each side.

It was good to see a low power consumption of just 3W, but we expected better audio quality from a radio that costs over £80. Music and even speech distorted badly at high volumes. Treble and bass were not particularly powerful. You can increase the bass level, but this creates distortion at anything above a medium volume.

The menu system is easy to navigate and the remote control is up to the task of controlling an iPod. You can set the alarm to wake to your iPod, a DAB or FM station or a buzzer.

If the audio quality had been better, the price wouldn't have been so off-putting. If you don't need a radio or alarm clock, iRhythms' A-211 is a better iPod dock.

Simplicity itself to set up. Packed with features, simple to use, stylish and compact. I especially like the ability to set up different alarm times for different days of the week.
