PCs equipped with the latest graphics cards tend to be expensive, so we were surprised to see Mesh's G92 Pulse Pro equipped with one of Nvidia's latest graphics cards at a surprisingly reasonable £800 including VAT.

The G92's 512MB Nvidia GeForce 8800GT graphics card performed very well in our demanding 3D tests, as our results below show. The G92 should be able to play the latest games at high-detail settings for some time to come. A second Nvidia graphics card can be added in SLI mode to boost 3D performance even further.

The G92 is fast enough for more serious work, too. It performed well in our Windows tests, especially our multiple applications test, thanks to its 3GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM. Despite its speed, the G92 is extremely quiet for a gaming PC.

The spacious 500GB hard disk should be large enough to hold a substantial media library alongside your Windows installation, programs and documents. Another pair of hard disks can be added using the two empty 3in drive bays and two free SATA ports if you need more storage space. You won't need to fit a memory card reader, though, as one is already present.

Movie fans will appreciate the bright 22in widescreen display. It doesn't have a glossy finish, so it can be used under bright lighting such as fluorescent tubes, without reflections causing distracting amounts of glare. It's not perfect, though. The stiff base isn't easily adjustable. White areas looked greyish, and there was some speckling in our greyscale transitions test, but it's good enough for gaming and everyday use.

Unlike other 8800-series cards, the 8800GT is a single-slot card, so it doesn't block adjacent expansion slots. This is good news for anyone who is looking to add expansion cards to the two free PCI and single PCI-E x1 slots.

If you watch movies on your PC regularly, you'll want to replace the Logitech 2.1 speakers with a surround-sound set. Alternatively, a surround-sound amplifier can be connected to the coaxial S/PDIF socket. Other extras include eSATA and FireWire 400 ports. The cordless Logitech keyboard and mouse are fine for everyday use, but gamers will want a more responsive USB set. The included warranty only lasts for one year, but it provides onsite service.

Mesh's G92 Pulse Pro is a good choice if you want a fast gaming PC that is also SLI-capable. The widescreen display isn't perfect, and we would have preferred a wired keyboard and mouse, but otherwise this is a very well-specified PC at a great price.
