PRODUCT UPDATE: Mesh Matrix II 620 HD and 925 HD
Posted on 28 Oct 2009 at 11:13
Due to the recent unexpected doubling of the price of memory, Mesh has had to increase the price of its award-winning Matrix II 925 HD, and the Matrix II 620 HD.
Both PCs were reviewed in Shopper 262 (December 2009), and are now subject to a £20 increase in price. This takes the Matrix II 620 HD from £500 to £520 including VAT and delivery, while the 925 HD rises to £670 including VAT and delivery.
The more expensive Mesh PC reviewed in the same issue are not affected by the price rises. This means the Ice 5 750 CS remains at £800 including VAT and delivery.
The price rise doesn't affect the Matrix II 925 HD's score - it keeps its Best Buy award.
Memory prices fluctuate on a daily basis, but it's rare for them to double or halve in price. DDR2 memory prices have been steadily rising since August, and are expected to stabilise in November. Unfortunately, it's unlikely prices will return to the low $20 cost price of a 2GB module.
Although we've not had confirmation from other PC system builders, we expect them to increase prices of desktop PCs, particularly those costing less than £700.
