Dell launches nettop-beating all-in-one PC

Dell has launched the Inspiron One 19, an all-in-one PC that costs just £399.
Until now all-in-one PCs have tended to be expensive, costing around £700 or more. Low-cost all-in-one nettops, like Asus' Eee Top, are cheaper at around £400 but aren't as powerful. Dell's new Inspiron One 19 has the generous specifications of a PC at a low nettop-like price of £399.
The £399 version of the Inspiron One 19 has a single core Intel Celeron 450 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 320GB hard disk and a built-in DVD writer. The 18.5in display has a 16:9 aspect ratio, a resolution of 1,366x768 pixels and is driven by an integrated Intel GMA X4500 graphics chip.
For just £80 more, you can upgrade to a model with a more powerful Pentium Dual Core E5300 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard disk. Both models come with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. Unsurprisingly, neither has a touchscreen like Dell's other all-in-one PC, the Studio One 19. The design appears to be chunkier too, while we have our doubts about the potentially distracting decorative strip underneath the display.
Nevertheless, the Inspiron One 19 looks like a very promising computer. The slightly more expensive £480 version looks to be better value to us, thanks to its more generous specification. We expect to see more budget all-in-one PCs soon, such as HP's recently-announced £500 Pavilion All-in-One MS210 PC. We'll bring you full reviews as soon as we can.
