Carrera Power Pro 2-300 review
Verdict:
DVD shows some forward thinking, but the Carrera's hampered by a small disk.

Our Rating
Almost as common is Lotus SmartSuite, which is bundled with this PC. It's one of the three premier-league office suites. Most prefer Microsoft Office, but SmartSuite is just as effective for most office uses.
In performance tests, Carrera came fifth in our group test of seven PII 300 PCs, with an overall 1039. Its Seagate Medallist Pro disk is relatively small but very speedy, winning second place in the database test. The ATI Xpert 98 graphics card isn't at all bad, but loses out to rivals with Hercules or Matrox cards.
The Carrera's specification holds few surprises: two, to be exact. The first is that the disk is 2Gb smaller than any other here, the second is that a DVD drive is supplied. The disk is a bigger minus than the DVD is a plus. The LG monitor is pretty good, it has the obligatory Lotus SmartSuite, it uses the same speakers we do and, it's all-PCI in the expansion cards. But performance is slightly dull and has no real edge on the competition. It's okay, but we'll pass for now.
