Dell Dimension 3100 review

Verdict:

This good-looking and quiet entertainment system cuts too many corners to get a recommendation.

Review Date: 17 Feb 2006

Price when reviewed: inc VAT

Our Rating 4 stars out of 5

The Dell-branded speakers are a stereo set, so they won't make the best of DVD movie soundtracks, but they're crisp and offer enough bass for the explosions of action films.

BUYING DECISIONS

Based on a case design that aids cooling, and therefore requires less noisy cooling fans, the Dell Dimension 3100 is a quiet and stylish Media Center PC. But by making too many compromises to its spec, Dell has weakened both its future upgrade potential and its day-to-day functioning as a Media Center PC.
