Our Rating
Hiper's HPU-3S350 350W supply has slightly better efficiency than the Aries 350W PSU, but it is still not capable of outputting its claimed maximum wattage.
It has a larger range of connectors than the Aries, with six Molex, two SATA and a PCI Express connector. It's not suitable for modern motherboards, as it has a 20-pin motherboard connector and not the 24-pin connector required by newer boards.
The Hiper PSU also performed poorly in our tests. The 3.3V, 5V and 12V rails were within the ATX specification at our three test loads, but the PSU could supply 350W for only five minutes before automatically shutting down. It was also one of the noisiest PSUs in the group, with a noticeable hum at 50% and 75% loads, and some serious vibration at 100%. Overall efficiency was poor at just 70.7%.
The Hiper HPU-3S350 couldn't cope with its rated maximum power output for any length of time. Better budget PSUs are available.
