Logitech's Harmony 885 lets you replace your existing remote controls with one attractive handset.

It's programmable through the provided software; you just enter the model numbers of your equipment. There are dedicated buttons for common controls such as volume and channel changing, but you can access more advanced controls using the colour screen and eight soft buttons. Even better, you can set up activities so that one button press will turn on all your equipment and map the controls. Watch a DVD, for example, assigns the volume controls to your AV receiver, picture controls to your TV, and menu keys to your DVD player.

With a recharge cradle that ensures you'll never run out of power, this is a brilliant tool for controlling your electrical kit.
