This is the cheapest Microsoft wireless set in the group. Like most of the products here, it's made from black and grey plastic and looks rather bland. It takes four AA batteries, and a set is included in the box.
The mouse included with this set is simple, but feels good and works well. Similarly, the keyboard is fairly basic. It has a standard, straight layout and a few short-cut buttons along the top. A button marked F-Lock converts the function keys to extra short cuts. Our testers rated its slightly clicky keys and pleasant layout in the top three in this group.
The keyboard has a spill-resistant design, with channels to drain away any liquid that falls on it. This could be handy if, like us, you regularly fling cups of coffee across your desk. If you type all day we recommend paying more for the Logitech LX710, but for more sporadic typists this is a great buy.
