Saitek P2900 Wireless review

Our Rating 4 stars out of 5

Saitek's P2900 is a wireless controller, so you can sit as far away from your PC as you like.

It's easy to set up: after installing the software, plug it in and press the sync button. The joypad uses a single AA battery, which Saitek claims will last for 50 hours of gameplay.

The pad is very wide, so doesn't feel that comfortable to hold. It has no analogue trigger controls, either, so it's not great for driving games. However, it does have a special mode for playing first-person shooter (FPS) games. Once activated, the right-hand analogue stick acts as the mouse, so you can play any FPS game using the joypad. It takes a little getting used to, and you won't be able to compete with a mouse-equipped competitor, but for single-player games it works well enough.

The P2900 Wireless is inexpensive, easy to use and great for FPS titles. With no trigger controls, though, it's of limited use for other game genres.
