Saitek Aviator review
While the Extreme 3D Pro looks like it's been taken from a spaceship, the Aviator has a more realistic design.
It has two throttle levers on its front, so it's ideal for flying aircraft with several throttle engines. Alternatively, you can push in a button and the two throttles move as one. It has a small base, and we found some Blu-Tack was needed to hold it steady.
The base holds four two-way toggle switches. There's also a mode switch, so you can customise different control set-ups and switch mid-game. This allows you, for instance, to have one set of controls customised for take-off and landing, and another for controlling weapons during combat.
The joystick has a fairly light movement, so your hand won't get tired during long flights. Of the three buttons on the stick, one is a missile button. It has a safety cover and glows red, which is silly but great fun. There's also a POV hat and rudder control.
This is an excellent joystick at a great price.
