SCYTHE Kamakiri Heatpipe CPU Cooler review
The Kamakiri's copper pipes convey heat to two aluminium radiators, between which is an 80mm fan.
This draws air across the radiators' large surface area, and its speed can be regulated using the supplied rotary control. Scythe says the lowest setting produces only 15.1dB of noise, which is effectively silent within a PC case.
The Kamakiri is potentially a far more effective cooler than the NCU-2005 below, making it suitable for powerful processors (it supports all sockets) and overclocking. It seems better value, too. In our tests the slowest fan speed kept our 2.6GHz Pentium 4 under 50-C. The highest limited temperature to just 41-C, but fan noise was excessive.
