Belkin's mouse pad has a handy four-port USB hub built in and looks smart thanks to a lighted blue strip around the edge of the pad.
The light isn't very strong and you can't alter its colour or brightness, but it could help you locate your mouse in a dark room.
Having four USB ports to hand is convenient, but the mouse pad doesn't have an external power supply. This means that you might have trouble when connecting power-hungry devices such as scanners and portable hard disks. The captive USB cable that links the pad to your computer means that should it break, you'll have to throw away the hub rather than replace the cable.
If you still use an old-fashioned ball mouse and you regularly plug in low-power USB devices such as flash drives, this pad could be useful. If you can do without the fancy light, though, a standard seven-port USB hub costs only a few pounds more and is more versatile.
