How to watch the Tour de France online on any device – best Android and iOS apps
Follow the Tour de France live for free on Android, iPhone, iPad, laptop and desktop
The Tour de France is broadcast on ITV and British Eurosport in the UK and there are loads of ways to follow the action on TV, computer, phone and tablet.
The ITV Player app for Android and iOS has a well-earned bad reputation and is best avoided if possible. On Android there is no live streaming of any ITV channels, so watching the Tour de France live on your Android phone or tablet is out of the question.
On iOS ITV Player does support free live streaming of the Tour de France. Simply download the app and start streaming.
PC and Mac users can watch the Tour de France on the ITV Player.
If you get your TV through Sky or Virgin Media then you can use their apps to watch the Tour de France live on Android and iOS in excellent quality. Download either Sky Go (Android and iOS) or Virgin TV Anywhere (Android and iOS).
Alternatively you can use an unofficial streaming app for Android. On the days when the Tour de France is being broadcast live on ITV1 you can use the excellent TVCatchup.
Unfortunately for the most part the Tour will be on ITV4, which isn’t supported by this app, but there is an alternative. LiveNow!tv has live streams of most Freeview channels, including ITV1 and ITV4, just ignore the somewhat dubious ‘Bikini Babe’ channels.
Got something against ITV or really like British Eurosport? The pay-TV sports channel has full coverage of the Tour de France, although you’ll have to pay for the app even if you receive Eurosport on your TV.
The Eurosport Player costs £5.99 for a one-off one month subscription, or £3.99 per month on a 12 month deal. The Player works on PC, Mac and most phones and tablets as well as Xbox 360, Xbox One and some connected TVs from Samsung, LG and Panasonic.
You can also follow the Tour de France on the official website, complete with an animation showing the progress of the race and a live text commentary.
