HP announces new touch-operated inkjet MFPs

HP has announced the five new additions to its range of Photosmart home MFP range, all using touch controls or touchscreens.
The entry-level Photosmart C4680 (£80) and Photosmart (£100, but no model number for some reason) use a 3.7cm TouchSmart frame. This provides touch buttons on either side of the frame for easy navigation through the printers' options. The Photosmart will also be available for £130 with wireless networking built in.
At £150, the Photosmart Plus is the cheapest MFP in the range to have a touchscreen (TouchSmart), along with TouchFrame controls around the sides to make it easier to navigate. In the US, the Photosmart Plus' TouchSmart panel can be used to browse and print online content like maps, news stories and images directly from the internet. So far, the only online feature mentioned in the UK press releases is the ability to browse and print photos from HP's Snapfish online photo printing service.
Hopefully, there will be much more to come, including access to HP's App Studio, where you can download apps that print recipes, puzzles and even kids' colouring pages featuring Disney and Nickelodeon cartoon characters.
Finally, the £200 HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One, out in October, appears to be a touchscreen version of the identically-named Lexmark, we're starting to see printers that you can install additional applications on.
