Our Rating
Seiko's thermal label printer can print labels up to 58mm wide at a resolution of 300dpi.
It connects to a PC or Mac via USB or an RS-232 serial port, though getting Seiko's software to recognise it over USB was fiddly. Its blocky print quality is fine for creating postal or other labels.
Seiko's software is easy to use, allowing you to create labels with text, barcodes or pictures. You can capture text, such as addresses, from most Windows applications. The 450 is more expensive than Brother's P-Touch QL-550 reviewed in What's New, Shopper May 2005, though, and can't cut its own labels. Brother's software bundle is better, too.
