Philips launches PicoPix projectors

Philips has announced a new range of pico-projectors for the PowerPoint pros on the go: the PicoPix.
Although pico-projectors aren't anything new, with companies having created commercial versions of the tiny self-powered marvels as far back as 2008, they're getting a lot more interest these days - and Philips new PicoPix range are certainly impressive.
Designed to offer reasonable-quality presentation capabilities on the go, the PicoPix range comprises three models: the 1020, 1230, and 1430. All three models offer an 800x600 resolution image.
The base PicoPix 1020 is a 20-lumen projector powered entirely via a USB connection to the host PC: just plug the device in, and you're ready to project with no separate power connection required.
The PicoPix 1230 builds on this with an integrated battery capable of running the device for two hours before requiring a top-up charge. To further make the device usable as a stand-alone presentation device, the 1230 adds stereo loudspeakers for audio support.
The flagship PicoPix 1430 takes the integrated battery of the 1230 and adds an integrated MP4 player which can read video and audio from an SD card for completely stand-alone presentations, no PC required. The brightness also gets a boost from 20 lumens to 30 lumens for better visibility in well-lit rooms.
All three models are due to launch in October this year, starting at €199 (around £165) for the 1020 and rising to €269 (£222) for the 1230 and €299 (£247) for the flagship 1430.
