ViewSonic launches 3D-ready HD projector: PJD6531W
Posted on 6 May 2010 at 11:39
ViewSonic has launched the PJD6531w, a 3D-ready DLP projector. It's brighter than the average home cinema projector at 3,000 lumens, which means you should be able to use it without blackout blinds.
It's capable of displaying a 60in image from under 2m, and has a resolution of 1,280x800, meaning it's capable of displaying 720p video. The DLP chip is capable of a 120Hz refresh rate, making it '3D-ready', which means you can purchase shutter glasses separately to use with third-party systems such as Nvidia's 3D Vision.
ViewSonic's James Coulson commented, "The PJD6531w is our flagship projector as its feature set means it can be used in almost any environment. It is perfect for watching the latest blockbuster, delivering an award-winning presentation or maybe watching England win the World Cup. It is also future-proof as it can handle upcoming innovations in display technology thanks to the 3D-ready DLP chipset and 120Hz display and will be Nvidia certified at the end of May."
When used in Eco-mode, the lamp should last 6,000 hours, and is produces just 26dB, meaning that it shouldn't disrupt your viewing. The PJD6531W also had a new version of BrilliantColor technology, which ViewSonic says provides outstanding colour reproduction. The 2,000:1 contrast ratio is nothing out of the ordinary for a DLP projector.
The PJD6531W is already available to buy online for around £630 including VAT. We'll try and bring you a full review of the projector shortly.
