Enermax Platimax 750W review
The Enermax Platimax 750W is one of the most efficient PSUs that we've reviewed. It carries 80 Plus Platinum certification, which means that it's at least 90 per cent efficient at all loads.
The PSU passed all of our compatibility tests and got some stunning results in our efficiency tests. It managed 90.47 per cent at 100 per cent load, 92.24 per cent at 50 per cent load and 91.83 per cent at 20 per cent load. That's incredibly for any PSU and will help reduce the cost of running your PC.
The 80 Plus Platinum certification means that this is an incredibly efficient PSU
It's also one of the few PSUs to have post shut-down cooling. This keeps the PSU's fan on after you've turned your computer off, pumping hot air out of your computer's case, which Enermax says increases the live of the power supply and your PC. We're pleased to report that the cooling fan was very quiet and it wasn’t noticeable in normal use.
Modular cables mean that you case won't be cluttered with unnecessary connectors. There's a good range of connectors on offer with eight Molex and 12 SATA. The four 6+2-pin PCI Express connectors will be enough for the vast majority of systems and only people that really want to install a triple graphics-card system will be slightly disappointed.
There's no denying that this is an excellent, high quality and efficient power supply with plenty of features. However, it's also extremely expensive and it would take many years to pay the extra cost back with its reduced electricity consumption. As it stands the cheaper XFX Pro 850W XXX Edition is the better choice at this price.
