BFG MX-550W review
Verdict:
This is a reliable and stable power supply with a decent 550W output, but it's a little expensive for what you get.

Our Rating
This PSU has a 120mm fan beneath that spins all the time, and a secondary 80mm fan at the rear that spins if the temperature reaches 50°C.
In our tests, only the 120mm fan was used, and it proved very quiet. The cables are modular, except for fixed motherboard and CPU cables, which you'll need to connect anyway.
The MX-550W has four 12V rails rated at up to 20A each. They're divided between the motherboard and disk drives, the CPU and two for the PCI-Express graphics cards. Voltages were stable and stayed within the ATX limits (see How we test, page 88). Efficiency could have been slightly better, with the supply falling to 83 per cent efficiency at full load.
Its 550W output makes the MX-550W suitable for a PC with a powerful graphics card or multiple hard disks, but it's a little expensive.
