Our Rating
As well as its own-brand power supplies, Seasonic makes them for lots of other manufacturers, such as Antec, as well. However, the X-650 is quite expensive for a 650W power supply at almost £120.
It has one 12V rail rated at 54A, which should be enough for an overclocked PC packed full of drives and a pair of powerful graphics cards. The latter is possible thanks to four 6+2-pin PCI-E connectors. There are also eight SATA and eight Molex connectors.
We saw no stability problems in our voltage tests. What was most impressive was the 89 per cent efficiency at 50 per cent load, which became 90 per cent at full load. It was so cool-running that the 120mm fan needed to start spinning only after a few minutes at 100 per cent load.
If you use your PC all day, every day, the X-650's excellent efficiency could make it worth the extra cost over other 650W supplies, but Seasonic's M12D costs only £11 more and delivers 800W.
