An excellent Freesat+ PVR with all the UK catch-up TV services, DLNA media streaming and an effective EPG
BT YouView+ TV
Smaller, quieter and faster, the new BT YouView+ box is a big improvement over the old one and still the same massive bargain
Our new favourite PVR thanks to the excellent YouView interface, but it's only a minor update to the previous model
Samsung's latest all-in-one could simplify your home cinema setup
Pure Avalon 300R Connect
A great looking PVR with music in mind, but it’s expensive and lacks smart TV features
Virgin Media TiVo 1TB
There are still some navigation issues, but TiVo's huge breadth of content puts it up there with the best PVRs around
A high-quality Freesat+ HD PVR with smart features
Two HD tuners, great smart features and DLNA streaming make this a high-quality PVR
YouView is brilliant and the BT Vision app adds loads of extra premium on-demand content. It's hard to argue with the amazing value, too
Humax YouView DTR-T1000
Simply the best EPG of any Freeview HD PVR, a responsive box and neatly integrated on-demand TV
HP Pavilion G6
Has powerful components, but it isn’t significantly faster than the better looking Pavilion DV6
PCTV Systems Broadway 2T
An easy-to-use network TV streamer, and it will be even better once the USB ports work
A competent multi-tuner PVR with the bonus of DLNA media streaming, but its limited format support and basic interface count against it
Icecrypt T2400 HD PVR
This Freeview HD recorded has a large hard disk, but lacks internet services, and doesn't support media streaming
Standard definition video quality isn't the best, but thanks to the HD channels, the STBHDH2010 is excellent value.
A very simple-to-use dual Freesat HD PVR with the ability to stream video over the internet, but it's expensive and not as flexible as we'd hoped.
Humax HDR-FOX T2
Packed with features, but still an expensive purchase considering the limited number of HD broadcasts. However, this is the best Freeview HD PVR around, and also has iPlayer built-in.
Technisat’s HDFV has some nice features including basic PVR capabilities, but poor media playback support lets it down while i-CANN’s Easy HD 2851T is cheaper and has a built-in BBC iPlayer client.
Archiving HD TV or AVCHD footage to DVDs can be handy, but it’s a trick that Panasonic have overlooked here.
Great HD quality, but with few other frills currently, the RTI90-320 is an expensive way to get three free HD channels. However, if you must have Freeview HD immediately, it's not a bad choice.
