Toshiba announces Freeview HD future
Posted on 10 Feb 2010 at 13:35
Toshiba has announced that it will be backing Freeview HD as the way to receive high definition channels, with the announcement of new TVs and a hard disk recorder.
The HDR5010 hard disk recorder is perhaps the most interesting announcement. It will come with a 500GB hard disk (enough for 120 hours of HD footage, according to the company) and twin Freeview HD tuners, allowing for two channels to be recorded at once.
There are two USB ports, which can be used to play DivX video, music and images directly from connected USB flash drives. Three HDMI inputs finish the device off, and can be used to directly connect other devices, such as camcorders.
Toshiba also unveiled a range of TVs that will have Freeview HD tuners as standard. The RV range of CCFL-backlit TVs will have these tuners, as will the LED-backlit SL (100Hz) and WL (200Hz) sets. Again, the products will be available before the World Cup.
We'll bring you more product details as soon as we have them.
