Hefty cooling fins and snazzy blue and black heat spreaders make the 8GB Kingston KHX24C11T2K2/8X memory kit some of the best-looking RAM around, although the modules’ height means that they’re not a good choice if you’re also going to be using a very large CPU cooler. Even if your PC doesn’t have a Perspex side panel and vanity lighting, there are good reasons to covet this kit.

This is the fastest 8GB kit we've seen, with an overall score of 103 in our benchmarks at its rated speed of 2,400MHz. The modules have two XMP profiles for your motherboard to pick up – 2,400MHz and 2,133MHz. The 2,400MHz profile configures memory latency settings of 11-13-13-30 and a voltage of 1.65V.

Kingston HyperX Performance KHX24C11T2K2/8X

By default, like most kits, the modules run at 1,333MHz. Although most motherboards support profiles to easily clock your RAM to its rated speed, we always carry out a baseline test at 1,333MHz. In this case we got an overall score of 100 in our benchmarks: exactly what we’d expect.

Although its 2,400MHz clock speed is faster than that of most memory kits, you won’t notice that much difference in performance in most applications. The 8GB kit consists of two 4GB modules and costs £61; that works out to £7.63 a gigabyte, making this an expensive option even compared to other performance RAM. It's a good buy if you want the fastest speeds, but most people would be better off with the good-value Crucial BLE2CP4G3D1869DE1TX0CEU kit.
