Tegra 2 LG Optimus 2X confirmed for January

The LG Optimus 2X, the first smartphone to feature Nvidia's powerful dual-core Tegra 2 processing platform, has been confirmed as coming to the UK in January of next year, although there's still no word on official pricing.
The Optimus 2X, which was announced earlier this month, is the first Android-based smartphone in the world to include a dual-core processor, thanks to Nvidia's Tegra 2 platform - something more commonly seen in tablet devices.
The extra power offered by the dual-core system and its associated 3D graphics capabilities should spell an extremely powerful handset, with LG promising full HD video output over HDMI or even wirelessly via the media streaming DLNA standard.
Since the announcement, LG has confirmed that the handset will be launching across Europe in January, with an exclusive selection of ringtones written by famed composer Ennio Morricone, a name more usually associated with film scores than mobile phones.
Sadly, it looks like LG's plan to ship the handset with Android 2.2 'Froyo' and offer an over-the-air upgrade to Android 2.3 'Gingerbread' at a later date is still going ahead, which will disappoint those picking up the handset at launch.
Pricing is still unconfirmed, although early pre-order pages across Europe point to a launch price of around £470 SIM-free, putting the LG Optimus 2X firmly at the top end of the price spectrum.
