Firefox released for Nokia's latest smartphone

Mozilla has released a version of its popular Firefox web browser for Nokia's N900 smartphone.
The N900 uses the company's Linux-based Maemo operating system, instead of the older Symbian operating system. Although the N900 already comes with a Firefox-derived web browser pre-installed, Mozilla's mobile browser can automatically synchronise your bookmarks, history and tabs with your PC over the Web.
Like its desktop counterpart, the Maemo version of Firefox also supports add-ons so more features can be added at your discretion, although Nokia's pre-installed browser also supports add-ons. According to a Mozilla blog post, the Maemo version of Firefox doesn't support plug-ins, specifically Flash, since they cause the browser to run unacceptably slow. This reinforces similar comments attributed to Apple CEO Steve Jobs explaining the absence of Flash from the iPhone and iPad.
A release candidate version of Firefox for the N900, as well as the older N810, is available now with the final release due soon.
