Skype now available on Nokia's Symbian smartphones through Ovi Store

Nokia and Skype have announced that a version of the popular Skype voice messaging software is now available on Nokia's smartphones running the Symbian operating system.
The software can be downloaded for free from Nokia's Ovi Store app repository or from Skype's website on your smartphone. Skype says the software will eventually be available on Symbian phones from other manufacturers such as Samsung and Sony Ericsson, but hasn't announced a date for this release.
Despite rapidly losing market share to more modern operating systems such as iPhone OS and Android, Symbian devices still make up the bulk of the world's phones. However, in the UK only one network operator, 3, allows the use of Skype and other Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic over its data network. Users on other networks will be limited to using Skype via a wireless internet connection.
The initial Skype for Symbian application is compatible with the following Nokia touchscreen models: Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia X6, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia 5530 and the following non-touch devices: Nokia E72, Nokia E71, Nokia E90, Nokia E63, Nokia E66, Nokia E51, Nokia N96, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N85, Nokia N82, Nokia N81, Nokia N81 8GB, Nokia N79, Nokia N78, Nokia 6220 classic, Nokia 6210 Navigator, Nokia 5320.
