Nokia launches Ovi Maps taxis

Nokia has opted for a somewhat unconventional marketing exercise to demonstrate its new Ovi Maps satnav application - a fleet of black cabs which will offer you a free ride to your destination.
According to Electricpig, the Nokia Ovi Maps cabs will be travelling throughout Manchester, London, Birmingham, and Glasgow today - and are free to flag down should you spot one that doesn't already have a customer.
If you're lucky enough to snag a free ride, you're in for a technology treat: Nokia's latest X6 handset will be in the rear, pre-loaded with the latest version of Ovi Maps. While the driver probably won't be too happy with you suggesting alternative routes from the back seat, it does give you a chance to play with the device - and track your journey at the same time.
Sadly, you won't get to keep the handset once your journey is over - but the good news is that Nokia is giving people the chance to get a free X6 16GB handset every day for the next week. To enter the contest - which doesn't require you to have found a Nokia-sponsored black cab - just use the hashtag #NokiaFreeSatNav on Twitter for a chance to win one of five each day.
With Nokia's free Ovi Maps application already proving a hit - with over one million registered downloads in its first week - could the company's stunt tempt people away from their dedicated satnavs?
