BT customers unable to access email through BT Mail should be able to login again

BT has apologised after a number of customers were left unable to access their email accounts this week. The company confirmed that BT Mail was fully operational on Wednesday afternoon. It said the problems were not connected to its move from BT Yahoo Mail to BT Mail.

Customers had been unable to login or send and receive messages from their BT email accounts since early on Monday morning. BT said the problem was now fixed but customers complained that downtime on BT Mail was becoming a regular occurance:

In a statement BT said that a “small number” of customers were blocked from using their accounts due to an error. BT did not provide any details of what the error was or why it had occurred.

“BT apologises to customers who were unable to log in to their BT email account today. A small number of our customers were blocked from using their accounts due to an error. We should have completed the process of unblocking all the affected accounts by this evening.”

The ISP is currently moving all BT Yahoo Mail customers to BT Mail, its new email service. Customers have been experiencing problems with the switch since it began earlier this year.

Less than a fortnight ago BT customers experienced similar email woes with a “technical issue” locking customers out of their accounts. BT customers also reported problems accessing their emails in July, April and February this year.
