Yahoo adds phone calls to Mac Messenger
Posted on 26 Mar 2008 at 11:35
Yahoo Messenger can now make calls. The new Mac version of the instant messaging software supports both computer-to-computer calls and, with a Phone Out account, calls to any landline or mobile.
Similarly, a Phone In account means you can take phone calls on your Mac. SMS text messaging is also possible, though international support for this may vary.
There is also a "free test call" option so new users can check out the phone features before opening an account.
Voice calls means voicemail and call forwarding, and Messenger has them both via a new Voice & Calls section in the preferences.
Messenger 3.0 beta is a free download from messenger.yahoo.com/mac.php.
