XP SP3 hits Windows "before the end of the month"

Microsoft will release the next and possibly final Windows XP service pack next week, according to a leaked internal schedule.
Neowin reports that SP3 will be sent to PC makers, volume licencees and developers on 21 April before it is available to all users from 29 April through Microsoft Update, Windows Update and Download Center. Automatic updates will not begin until 10 June.
That's less than three before Microsoft plans to stop selling all but the Home edition of XP, in an effort to encourage users to adopt Vista.
However they may be tempted to wait for Windows 7, after Microsoft founder Bill Gates recently said would be available "sometime in the next year or so". Microsoft stressed that it has made no changes to a schedule that sets a 2010 date for Vista's successor, so the most that can be expected before then is a beta release.
Information about Windows XP SP3 can be found in Microsoft's overview.
