Apple updates 64-bit Java
Posted on 30 Apr 2008 at 09:25
Apple has released a Java update for 64-bit Mac systems.
The Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 adds Java SE 6 version 1.6.0_05 to your Mac, but does not replace the existing installation of J2SE 5.0 or change the default version of Java.
This release is only for Mac OS X 10.5.2 (and later) running on 64-bit Intel Macs - namely the Mac Pro and Xserve. It cannot run on PowerPC or 32-bit Intel Macs.
Java SE is a widely used platform for programming in the Java language and is used to deploy portable applications for general use.
