Last chance to upgrade Photoshop 7
Posted on 6 Oct 2008 at 10:26
Adobe has warned Photoshop 7 users that they have little over a week to upgrade to the latest version, before the upgrade path is closed.
When the company released Creative Suite (CS) 3 in March 2007, it instigated a “three versions back” upgrade policy. With the release of CS 4 this month, that policy means that Photoshop 7 will no longer be eligible for an upgrade, since the previous three versions are CS 1, 2 and 3.
The upshot is that Photoshop 7 users have until 15 October to upgrade to CS3, which will entail you to a free upgrade to CS4. All CS3 purchases after 23 September 2008 include a free CS 4 upgrade, though you should first confirm this with Adobe or the reseller.
Photoshop 7 was the first version to run natively in OS X, but is not compatible with the latest, Leopard version of the Mac operating software.
