'Facebook juror' dismissed
Posted on 25 Nov 2008 at 16:16
A juror who posted details of a sex abuse trial on her Facebook account has been dismissed by her peers. The woman said that she posted the details to get the insight of her online friends to determine whether or not the defendants were guilty.
Court administrator Peter Carr said that her actions contravened rules banning jury members from discussing cases outside of court.
He said that the woman, whose name and age were not revealed, was removed from the trial at Burnley Crown Court after her online indiscretions came to light. The case continued with an 11-member jury.
